Online teaching tip for:
ICT Readiness level: Basic
Digital channels: WhatsApp on smartphone, DStv channels 317 & 319
Subject & Grades: All subjects & grades
Flying Cow & CAT Teacher Siyabonga has some practical advice for teachers: “to kickstart your online teaching, create a WhatsApp group with your learners. Then send them a message to watch the programme you’ve selected on one of the DStv Mindset education channels. You watch the programme at the same time as your learners and both during and after the broadcast you can answer their questions and offer additional information.”
On the WhatsApp FAQ (= Frequently Asked Questions) page you will find how to create a group and how to invite learners to join the group. The page offers both a video tutorial and a step-by-step instruction. Please click here: How to create and invite into a group.
Mindset TV offers lessons for Grade 10 -12 on channel 319 and from 1 April 2020 Mindset Pop Primary will broadcast lessons for Grades 4-9 on Channel 317. These channels are available to all DStv subscribers. You can find the programme schedules in the DStv guide and on the Mindset Africa website.
Siyabonga and his fellow Flying Cows are ready to personally assist schools & teachers with setting up WhatsApp groups and finding relevant programmes and content for online teaching. We offer webinars, video & phone consultations as well as a WhatsApp support line.
